The Vulcan Bolter doesn't fire as quickly as you expect, when you first get a chance to play with it. A single gun is actually kind of slow; it's only when you equip two and alternate their firing rate so they take turns that it seems rapid. The projectiles aren't very fast either; just balls of flame that streak forward at about running speed. Hitting a quick monster with this one is no picnic.

Flux wrote a bit about using a Vulcan Blaster in his Mega Community Day Report, May 2007.
I used a Vulcan Bolter as well, and it's unchanged since I used it last year. (Well, the name's changed, again, but I'm ignoring that for now.) It's a pistol that shoots little fireballs. The rate of fire is much lower than the Spark Rifle, but the damage per ball is a lot higher. This puts more of a premium on accuracy, and accuracy isn't that easy with this gun, since it has a bit of a scatter pattern too; each ball comes out a little to the left or right of the aiming point, which makes this one less reliable the further away you are from the target.
