Before you are let loose unto the minions of Hell, you need your basic training and this takes place in Russel Square. This is a good thing to do on your first character, once, so you don't miss any of the obvious things, but if you want to skip it, just check "Disable Tutorial Tips" when creating the character. The main things from the tutorial are:
  • Open incoming Transmissions with <Enter>.
  • Use the arrow button to move through conversations.
  • Quick Keys:
    • Open Quest Log with "L". Check quests for tracking.
    • Use "I" to open your inventory. Use mouse to move items in it.
    • Open Skill page with "K".
    • Activate Automap with <Tab>.
    • Open World Map with "M".
    • Pick up items with "F".
    • Use <Esc> to remove windows or open the game menu.

    • <Shift> will use the skill that you need most at the time, if you activate it on your skill page.
    • <Ctrl> will use the consumable you need most at the moment (Health Injector, Adrenaline Pills, etc).
  • You can pull skills or items from your Inventory or skill page to the "Hot Bar" at the bottom, and activating that item/skill by pressing the number.
  • NPC's display their use by an icon over their heads.
    • Purple Exclamation Marks = Main Story quest giver.
    • Yellow Exclamation Marks = Side story quest giver.
    • "Other icons may represent Medics or Vendors...or space donkeys. Whatever."
  • You will receive items from NPC's by clicking the "Take Items" button. When there is several items to choose from, it will pick the one that suits you the best.
  • You travel between areas using portals. Some are closed before you finish quest objectives.
  • Have fun saving the world!
