Official Biography
Tricia Gray started her 11 year career in the gaming industry at the bottom rung of the ladder, serving as a Q/A tester at SEGA of America. She quickly moved up to Sony's 1st-party Evaluation group testing games like Twisted Metal, as well as fighting to bring projects like Parappa the Rapper to the U.S.
Showing a talent for evaluating a product's marketability, Tricia moved to Eidos as a producer and then quickly joined their public relations department. She became not only an advocate for Eidos' games, but also served as the personal representative of Ms. Lara Croft.
Her work at Eidos came to the attention of Terry Donovan who convinced her to leave San Francisco and move to NYC to launch his new company, Rockstar Games. Soon realizing that she was too Californian and too Southern for the vertical jungle of the Big Apple, she returned home to the SF Bay Area and successfully launched Gamers.com.
Tricia then jumped to the other side of the PR fence and become the West Coast Editor for Computer Games Magazine. Missing the fast pace of the PR life, however, she later joined Empire Interactive to help re-invent their image in North America. Although Trisha vowed this would be her last job in the games industry, she made a connection with the crew at Flagship Studios and was re-energized by the thoughts of what a gaming company could accomplish.
When not jamming with fellow Flagship cohorts, Charlie Lapp and Dave Steinwedel in their rockabilly band, Tricia can be found at some of SF's leading salsa and swing clubs.
Features
In 2006 Tricia was interviewed by Evan Shamoon of DPerry.com and talked about her job and daily responsibilities, along with other interesting inside stuff. A quote. My job here at Flagship Studios is pretty unique. I am in charge of all the marketing and public relations for the company and our game, Hellgate: London.
This is unique because I work for the developer, and normally, this kind of position only exists at publishers. We have two publishers: Hanbitsoft who covers all of Asia sans Japan, and Namco, who covers the Americas, Europe and Japan. I make sure coordination happens between the two companies with all the assets that FSS puts out and that everyone is on the same page. I make sure we get to our press tours, conventions, and TV interviews. I create marketing materials and approve the marketing (ads, ad placements) for the company.
I also deal with the marketing and PR with our ancillary partners like Weta, Darkhorse, Nvidia, Tokyo Pop, etc. So everyday I come in, drink some tea and coordinate, pitch, and approve all things PR and marketing. I work with Mika Kelly and Chris Clark (who are the best) over at Namco.
At Hanbitsoft, Derek Oh and Charlie Shinn (who both rock and work very hard). I mention them cause they help out with the PR and marketing of the game and I communicate with the daily. They are stars.
Before the 2006 E3 Tricia told the RPG Vault what she'd be doing at the show.
I will be running around like a mad woman, making sure the press checks out Hellgate and the booth doesn't burn down, since we have multiplayer up this year.
I am looking forward to seeing Spore if it's on the floor.
