Tortured Souls were known from the large render seen below for a long time before they finally showed up in screenshots. They were hard to recognize once they did show up, since they float oddly, with their arms and legs dangling down, like tethers below a hot air balloon.

Description

There is only one type of attack for Tortured Souls: Charging a purple spectral then launches itself through you. Although this deals a rather small amount of damage, a lot of them zooming at you can drain your health quite fast. When you reach the vicinity of the Tortured Soul it will commence the attack by charging a purple spectral lighting around itself and will pause for 3 seconds before zooming right through you, dealing damage. In the time when it charges up is your only good window to kill it before it attacks you. As of yet, there are no known ways to dodge the attack. This attack also zoom through objects such as cars, columns, etc.

If you miss the window to kill the Tortured Soul when it charges up, keep an eye on where it stopped (usually somewhere near you, after passing through your body). It should be relatively easy to follow the purple ray that it emitted while zooming through you. You will then have a new window to kill the demon. Unless killed they will continue to charge up and zoom through you until you are dead ur puts a long distance between yourself and the monster.
