Talk:Mini-game
From Hellgatewiki.com
I've removed the god-awful pictures that used to explain icons and added a table. I hope this is allright. —Pixelz 00:01, 6 November 2007 (CET)
- Nice work, looks great! :D That pic was an oldie from the beta forums, so I don't think anyone will miss it. ;) Tenera 05:51, 6 November 2007 (CET)
- Awesome work Pixelsz! That is just great. Thanks a million, will use this when playing as well! ;) I might just change from "Type of X" main headline to like "Kill X" so that its apparent from the start exactly what you need to do. I know it is well explained in the cells below, but some people... =) Well, that is my opinion, what do you think? --Leord 14:57, 6 November 2007 (CET)
- I've changed the table to make things more clear. I don't know what do do with the damage types though. —Pixelz 16:48, 6 November 2007 (CET)
- Looks great Pixelz! I added a few links, and minor pieces of text. Really impressed with the tableworks (kind of dislikes to make Wiki tables). --Leord 00:52, 7 November 2007 (CET)
I made a chart to print for myself, and thought I'd share it with the rest of the community. Tagged it onto the very bottom of the page the only way I could figure out how. Feel free to edit, remove, or use the image however you like. --Ariwins 19:29, 7 November 2007 (CET)
Losing
The original pre-release patch notes for .5 stated the Mini-game would reset after fifteen minutes.
The new patch notes (Patch .5) do not state it at all.
Further, through my own in-game testing, both near the end of a mini-game, and at the very beginning (ie right after winning, without fulfilling any further objectives), I have not yet seen it automatically reset. Is there some criteria for this that needs to take place? --Mileron 20:40, 25 November 2007 (CET)
- I haven't seen this either, perhaps they changed it? --Leord 12:14, 26 November 2007 (CET)
Icon Source
Does anyone know where the icons come from btw? Did Hellgateguru.com steal them from this page (but missed one pic, lol!), or did they grab them from teh same source we used at some point? I don't mind them stealing, that is their thing and nothing we can do about it, but if WE actually grabbed it without credit, it would be best if we took new pictures and added. --Leord 02:19, 3 December 2007 (CET)
- I got them from the gamespot game guide. So that's probably where hellgateguru got them from aswell. --Pixelz 06:02, 3 December 2007 (CET)
- Ok, we should consider doing our own then. For now they are fine, we can deal with more important tasks. --Leord 14:10, 3 December 2007 (CET)
- This clearly (in my mind) falls under fair use so there shouldn't be any problem. Some of them aren't that good anyway though so might be a good idea to retake them. I retook the pistol one because it was particularly bad. --Pixelz 18:43, 3 December 2007 (CET)
- I agree, that was good, but the new pistol is slightly "blurred" on the edges. Is that because of background or graphics settings? Having all icons with black background would be optimal as well as updating the printable picture. I have started taking screenshots. =) --Leord 12:08, 4 December 2007 (CET)
- I'm not sure about the blur but it might be a graphics setting. I was thinking, we might want to display the yellow wire-frame icons as well as the "complete" versions of them. The reason I didn't add them was because of the blurryness of my screenshots. --Pixelz 12:29, 4 December 2007 (CET)
BTW, i changed the icons again yesterday. hope you guys don't mind. they're straight from the game data. i used the uncompleted icons instead of the completed ones (despite their pretty colors) because i originally had trouble matching up some of the completed icons when trying to figure the minigame out myself.--Snakely 14:00, 3 January 2008 (CET)
- How did you get them out of the game data? I like it anyway, even if some details are not there in the pics. They are more original and clear than the old ones at any rate. Thanks a lot! Could you make a new "printable" pic as well (the little link below) --Leord 19:32, 8 January 2008 (CET)
- i made some new partially filled icons and redid the printer-friendly version. i got the icons using an extractor i turned up called unhell. they're in the hellgate000.dat file, extracted to some path for UI elements and a file called main_atlas.dds. anyways, enjoy.--Snakely 00:39, 19 January 2008 (CET)
