I think we might want to group up Health Injectors etc together, instead of in tiers. IT seems more logical to sort by use rather than strength. --Leord 16:59, 9 November 2007 (CET)
Item Names
The game names all the items in plural, as in "Analyzers", even if you only have one in you stack. Should we do the same perhaps? Or is it more logical to just have one? We need our pages and info to be concisten at any rate :) --Leord 11:37, 1 November 2007 (CET)
- I've them all to plural for now. Some of the items made more sense as plural in the listing (since there's more than 1 kind of health injector, for example), so it makes sense to make that the standard, rather than have some in singular and others in the plural. - Over all, use the ingame name when possible, unless very cumbersome or illogical, like "Special Attributes" on the modifiers/affixes. :) --Leord 17:14, 1 November 2007 (CET)
One article or many?
To make it easier, and showing all discussion on the topic, I am adding my pm discussion with tenera here, as I was going on and on about it.
Sorry to create work for you, but I've got a bit of a mess. ^^;; I went through and updated the Power Ups page with all the various consumables (though lacking the advanced, medium, and major varieties at this time). The trouble came when I saw a lot of redundant pages related to it. I decided to rename it Consumables, and clean it up a bit and have everything on one clean page. Unfortunately I didn't find out what the "move" function did until I had already created a Consumables page (http://hellgate.incgamers.com/wiki/Consumables), so now there's two pages with the same info. :X I've orphaned the Power Ups page (http://hellgate.incgamers.com/wiki/Power_ups) and put everything directing to Consumables, but I couldn't figure out how to flag the page for deletion (to have it show up to the moderators' attention), so... thus this PM. hehe Also, just a question. There are a couple of pages for individual items. Did you want me to fill those out, and create the missing pages? Or play clean up and get rid of the redundant pages (since it's all been covered by Consumables). Anyway, thanks, and sorry if this is a pain. ^^;
Hi tenera!
Cool that you enjoy fiddling in the Wiki! ;) Don't worry about work, I love fiddling myself, and don't be so humble!
Right, in most cases, a delete isn't nessecary. What you can do is "#REDIRECT Consumables". If you truly think one page has no place in this world (or an article with a name that is misspelled) just put it in the [[Category:Delete]] and notify me. For good reasons, only admins can delete things. :)
When it comes to individual pages: There might come a time later when the info in "Consumables" (a name I thought of myself some time back, but never started, so good choice) is too long to have on one page, so splitting would be better. So just in case that might happen, keep the old links and just redirect all those articles the one you made. It also makes linking from other articles, to a helth injector for instance, easier. Only one thing though, and that is that you need to make headlines in the Consumables article, or otherwise you can't hot-link directly to an item. So add ==Analyzer== for the Analyzers, for instance. Then someone can do a link or redirect to Consumables#Analyzer. Same goes if someone done a link to Analyzer, just add the "#REDIRECT Consumables#Analyzer" tag to that article.
Speaking of Consumables though, a maximum stack count as one of the stats to each item would be very useful. You've done a lot of helping out, its looking good! --Leord 11:23, 1 November 2007 (CET)
- Thanks a bunch for the response. :) I had tried the redirect thing, but it didn't work. I must have done it incorrectly; I'll give it another shot. I had toyed with the idea of setting up headlines, but I'll just go ahead and set it up, then. :) I had forgotten that some of the stacks were twenty, and others ten. I've added a line for that, now. Also working on adding a cooldown stat as well. Tenera 15:55, 1 November 2007 (CET)
- Consider that "Cooldown" is called "Rate of Use" in the game. I suppose they did that to differentiate themselves from WoW, so we should respect that. Perhaps abbrevate it into "RoU", and have an article called RoU that either redirects to some page with tonnes of small explanations, or it's own article. Also need a Rate of Use with same functionality. OR, just type out "Rate of Use" every time, like I did on the skills. --Leord 17:16, 1 November 2007 (CET)
- Ah good point, I'll fix that. Tenera 18:14, 1 November 2007 (CET)
