The Sumatran Rat Monkey is a reference to Peter Jackson's (of LOTR fame)Brain Dead (also titled Dead Alive in the U.S. release.)The Sumatran Rat Monkey is "a hybrid that (according to legend) resulted from the rape of tree monkeys by plague rats." The creature is depicted in the first scene of the movie when is is captured and brought to the local zoo and is ultimately responsible for infesting a Wellington New Zealand with hundreds of zombies.
