Soul Reaper
From Hellgatewiki.com
These eerie, misshapen amalgams of flesh are powered by the energies of souls ripped from the recently slain. Soul Reapers are the most primitive form of what is known as a Spectral manifestation. Not fully formed in this world, these creatures are the essence of a demon that only slightly exists in the human world. They drift slowly about, attracted to fresh corpses upon which they feed by literally draining their souls.Soul Reapers are largely oblivious to the activities of mankind, although they will lash out with a savage blast of spectral "lightning" should they be disturbed. Immediately after feeding, they begin to move rapidly and erratically while emitting an uncontrollable burst of energy that is especially dangerous for anyone within range. Some believe that these creatures also provide some sort of beneficial effect to other nearby demons that have ties to the spectral realm.

Soul Reapers are floating, soul-sucking beachballs with eyes, claws, and multiple mouths. While they look like fun little pinatas hovering there, beware their powerful purple lightning beams, especially if they are encountered in groups. Their beam attacks can lock onto your character and deal surprisingly painful damage, if you let them power up.
"Some of Hellgate: London's more unusual monsters are Orbiles that suck the energy from newly created corpses and then go into an aggressive lightning mode. The goal for the player is to kill them before killing any other monsters; they are pretty easy to deal with until they can suck a corpse."
--Erich Schaefer, RPG Vault interview.
They are an odd creature:
Battered by a tooled-up Templar, zombies were tumbling to the tarmac left, right, and centre. Suddenly this Orbile (a floaty spherical scavenger) slid into view and started gliding about sucking the soul sap out of the corpses. After siphoning a fair few it went into a spectacular and dangerous lightning-loosing pirouette before eventually exploding in a puff of something supernatural.
