Active

A skill is considered "Active" if it is operated by the player. Skills like Rapid Fire are active as it is used by the user when he chooses to, and he will expend something (Power) to use it, and it has a direct effect that is an increase of shots during a short time. Attributes that determines an "Active" skill:

  • It is manually used by Player.
  • It has a direct effect.
  • It has a usage cost (Power).

Aura

A skill is considered to be an "Aura" if the effect is a continuous effect emanating from the character or some target, and effects herself, allies or foes around her. It often has no direct effect on the surroundings, but rather a "reactive" effect, such as Aura of Renewal: "more foes within Aura radius heals more Health per minute". Attributes that determines an "Aura" skill:

  • It is activated like an "Active" skill by the Player.
  • It lacks casting cost.
  • It will continue to affect the character until it is changed or cancelled.

Buff

A skill is considered a "Buff" if it needs to be activated by any normal "Active" means, but will work like a "Passive" effect as long as you don't cancel it, or the duration expires, after that activation. Attributes that determines a "Buff" skill:

  • It is manually activated like an "Active" skill unto herself or a friend by the Player.
  • Further activations by Player is not needed.
  • The effect is passive and continuous with limited or unlimited duration.

Debuff

A skill is considered a "Debuff" if it is a skill that mainly affects a foe and needs to be activated by any normal "Active" means (like a "Buff"), but will work like a "Passive" effect as long as you don't cancel it, or the duration expires, after that activation. Attributes that determines a "Debuff" skill:

  • It is manually activated like an "Active" skill unto a Foe by the Player.
  • Further activations by Player is not needed.
  • The effect is passive and continuous with limited or unlimited duration.

Passive

A skill is considered "Passive" if it requires no operation by the player after adding skill points into the skill. The skill is "continuously" active, or activates by events that are not directly related to the skill. Attributes that determines a "Passive" skill:

  • It requires no further player activation than adding skill point.
  • It is activated all the time, or by triggers (such as Critical Hit).
  • It has no Power cost.

Stance

A skill is considered to be a "Stance" if it is an active skill that gives some sort of bonus during which time the character is remaining in the given Stance. Generally, moving or jumping will deactivate the Stance as well as just deactivating it. Attributes that determines a "Debuff" skill:

  • It is manually activated like an "Active" skill.
  • It will give an effect on the character while she is in the Stance.
  • When the Stance is cancelled, the bonus stops.
