The Reaper is a winged demon named for his scythe. His first appearance was in the Hellgate: London introductary cinematic, the second half of which was premiered at E3 2006. The Reaper is the big one, the seemingly-unkillable demon who owned and ate the Cabalist, before chasing Lyra Darius through the church.

Name: Bloodbane
Caste: Primus
Rank: Lesser Demon
Subtypes: Netherlord, Blood Baron
Special: Flight? Weapon attack with massive scythe. Found in: Exodus, near the end of act IV.

All logic would indicate that the Reaper is of the Primus Caste; he's huge, humanoid, intelligent, uses a weapon, etc. But in one of the few Reaper screenshots, he's tagged as one of the Beasts. However, also note that the hover info in that shot is buggy; the Reaper has not been renamed "Missing String Index," so the rest of his tag might be suspect as well. We're assigning him to Primus for the time being.

Note from Anonymous: Encountering him game during the Exodus mission, he has the most health of any boss I've encountered by far. He's still flagged as a beast, the quest text telling you to kill him says "Defeat the Big Boss ^TM" Destroying the Exospector takes several minutes of shooting the rocket launcher, it's the only time investment I can compare. An Anchored Guardian spamming Sword of Reckoning and Shield bash to keep him stunned took a good 4-5 minutes.

<Player note: Yunadanta; Like the note from Anonymous above, it is confirmed they are flagged as Beasts (both Bloodblade from the Exodus Mission and Despair from the To The Hellgate: Destroy the 5 Lies quests are both Beasts). However even though they are beasts there secondary attack which is a wing swipe (seen in the intro cinematic) can add the Phased debuff to users as well as all of the Reaper's attacks being able to stun the character. The general height of the Reapers changes, Bloodblade is about as tall if not just abit taller then the maximum height a player can be, the one seen in the intro cinematic who is apparently called the Eliminator (even though when you kill this monster it is replaced by a Shock Minion for the mission Rememberance from Lyra Darius in Liverpool Street Station) is double the size of Bloodblade while Despair who is beyond the Hellgate is 3 times the size of Bloodblade.>
