Peter Hu

Peter Hu was a long-time employee of Blizzard North, and played a key role in the development of Diablo II and the Diablo II Expansion. He was one of the few employees to keep working on Diablo II after its release, and was the chief architect of the massive v1.10 patch, a task that involved recoding virtually the entire game to make it run more smoothly and allow much easier content updates and feature integration. Modders everywhere sing Peter's praises for his efforts in that area. The Blizzard employees who added features in the v1.11 patch were able to do so easily thanks to Peter's rewriting in v1.10.

While working on Diablo II, Peter remained one of the most accessible of the Blizzard North crew, and spent many long hours chatting/explaining game features with fans in the Diabloii.net chatroom. Since joining Flagship as a co-founder, Peter's been a regular poster on numerous Hellgate: London fansite forums.

Official Biography

Peter Hu has worked for many years in the gaming industry, has served as a main Programmer on the latest releases in the Diablo franchise, and was most recently Lead Programmer on the highly anticipated 1.10 patch for Diablo II. His work on the Diablo series of games included programming and technical design on random level generation, player and monster skills, item randomization and powers, client/server data streaming, monster AI, quest logic, special effects and overall playability and balance.

Peter was a Programmer on both Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and moved into creating ongoing content for the franchise, as well as providing design and programming insights for upcoming projects. He commonly worked with programmers across various aspects of the project and organized the implementation and integration of new content into the game.

Prior to joining Blizzard North, Peter served as a Lead Programmer on several projects at 3DO. In 2003, he left Blizzard to join the newly-formed Flagship Studios with some other ex-Blizzard employees.

Peter is an enigma and his whereabouts or habits outside of the office are a complete and total mystery.
