Mini-game
From Hellgatewiki.com
The mini-game is a game within a game in Hellgate: London that rewards you with extra items upon completion. It is in effect at all time during normal play that gives you something to think about while killing monsters and picking loot.

Winning the Mini-game
During development, the mini-game originally required you to perform three actions in a specific order. The retail version has dropped the order requirement and added numbers. Now, the three symbols will each have a number on top of them, indicating the number of times you must perform the specified action. The actions come in five basic types:
- Dealing a Critical Hit. (can score multiple times on a single target)
- Dealing Damage of a specific type before killing a target. The damage types include electrical, fire, physical, spectral, and toxic. Each kill will satisfy the objective once. One kill can satisfy several objectives at once if those objectives are to deal damage type and you manage to deal those damage types to the target before it dies.
- Kill an enemy of a specific type (beasts, demons, necros, spectrals).
- Loot items of a specific type (armor, melee, mods, ranged, or any item of "enhanced" or better quality).
- Complete a quest. This one seems to be deactivated now (Patch 1.2)
You can perform them in any order. Some actions, like killing a beast with a flame weapon, can count towards more than one objective at the same time. Each time you complete an action, the number over that symbol will decrease by one. When each individual action has been completed enough times, the symbol will become solid and colored, instead of wire-frame.
Upon the completion of the mini-game (even if the player is in a town), the player is immediately awarded random reward, usually two or three Enhanced / Green quality items, sometimes better (loot drops just like killing a demon right under your feet) and a melodic sound is played. Mods can appear in any quality, including Regular. It is possible, though extremely rare, to be awarded Unique / Yellow item. There is an achievement requiring completion of the mini game 20 times for 150 APs, but other effects (if any) remain cryptic to the player. Flagship has hinted that there might be more to the mini-game than this, however there has been no evidence to support this so far.
Losing the Mini-game
There is no way of "losing" the mini-game, though that it can take you a long time to win it. The only thing you can lose from it is time.
Since patch 0.5 the mini-game resets after 15 minutes and is rumoured to happen 15 minutes after the last requirement is gained. This change seems to be missing or removed. It can be far more than 15 minutes between finishing attributes. It might have variables that isn't told by Flagship.
Tricks and Tips
- Buying and trading items do not satisfy requirements. Don't even try.
- Upon completion, it is good to wait for the new minigame to load up before you loot the rewards. This way you maybe be able to satisfy looting objectives immediately (which can sometimes be a pain to do).
- Add mods of different damage type on either your main weapon or an alternative weapon used solely for the mini-game. Doing this will allow every kill to satisfy all elemental objectives at the same time, since you only need to deal damage of a certain type before killing it, not necessarily the killing blow.
- Weapons with faster fire/swing rates generate more chances to critically hit targets, decreasing the time it takes to fulfil that requirement. Add Critical Chance mods to a weapon to improve your odds further!
- For you pet lovers, pet damage does count toward damage type requirements, although it is not clear if a pet crit would do the same.
- The Hunter skill Tactical Stance is a good way to score critical hits as that faction.
- When a Blademaster is using dual swords, right hand sword will make the first hit. If first hit kills the monster, left hand sword will not hit, thus does not satisfy "damage of type" criteria.
NOTE: This does not work once you install the Stonehenge Update.
- If you get stuck on a particular mini-game, you can drop an item on the ground and pick it up for a mini-game criteria. To drop an item, use a blueprint and a spare gun, armour or sword you have.
- Open the blueprint and place the item for the mini game there.
- Move the items in your inventory, so that there is no space for the said item.
- When you close the blue print, the item drops on the floor.
- Arrange your inventory to make space and pick up the item again.
