The Guardian
By Jeremy Huxley, Background Artist, Flagship Studios
If a group were an arch, the Guardian would be the keystone. Alone, the Guardian is still a devastator.
The Guardian's significant other, the Blademaster, might appeal to a lot of people for the damage they can do and the possibility of using dual blades; however, there is still a crowd that prefers to exercise more control over paced battles. I am in that crowd.
Blademasters can deal all the damage they want, but when monsters overwhelm the team, I want someone that can draw the unwanted attention away from my party members with less armor and fewer health points. And in multiplayer, the Guardian class plays similar to "tanks" found in many other games. So let them come to me.
Shield attacks, aura casts and taunting abilities are all part of the Guardian's arsenal. They're great for damage dealing and damage focusing. My favorite skills are the shield techniques that let my Guardian bash, stun, charge or spin through many monsters at once. In later levels, when insanely powerful Demons start pouring out of the woodwork, you'll also be happy to have access to the Guardian's heavy armor and life-giving auras.
The Guardian is not the easiest class to play, but it's also not the hardest -- good for both casual and experienced gamers, I think. And me? Well, I like a little bit of a challenge and I love the Guardian designs. You'll see in later levels they look like real goliaths.
