Gamer's Unity Interview

GamersUnity: You former worked for IGN.com as Lead Video Producer. What does a Community-Manager and a Lead Video Producer have in common?

Brennan Ieyoub: While my bread and butter is video production, I have spent some time on the editorial side of the gaming press. I was the Editor-in-Chief of IGN Insider before I became Lead Video Producer, and many of my responsibilities in that role were right in line with community management.

GamersUnity: What have you done before you worked for IGN.com?

Brennan Ieyoub: Before IGN I was working as a freelance film editor in Los Angeles. I worked at Sony Pictures for two years then went on to work on such films as Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Stuck on You, and Collateral.

GamersUnity: What moved you to start working for FSS/Ping0?

Brennan Ieyoub: Ivan kindly persuaded me to join Flagship. "Kindly persuaded" meaning he chased me through the streets of San Francisco with a flaming broadsword until I agreed to leave IGN. It was a good move for me. I'm excited about Hellgate and get to work with some of the most creative folks in the industry.

GamersUnity: Mythos as well as Hellgate:London are fast-paced Action-RPG's. Is that the game-genre you prefer or do you have other priorities?

Brennan Ieyoub: I love Action-RPGs. Hellgate is right up my alley. I'm a big console gamer in addtion to being a PC gamer.

GamersUnity: What do you like most concerning your new job?

Brennan Ieyoub: Beautiful location, great people, awesome job perks. I can't complain, working on a great game is very rewarding.

GamersUnity: Is there anything you don't like?

Brennan Ieyoub: Yes, I have to park my car 4 blocks away from the office. I'm lazy like that.

GamersUnity: Are you willing to do this job until Hellgate:London and Mythos are just two well known titles in game history? ;-)

Brennan Ieyoub: Flagship will continue to grow and expand after the release of Mythos and Hellgate, I'd love to stay onboard and support the company.

GamersUnity: What do you expect of the community you will be working for?

Brennan Ieyoub: I'm just as much of a gamer as anybody else in the Hellgate community, I'm sure we’ll all have similar questions and concerns in the future and I hope that we can all be buddies and find the answers together.

GamersUnity: Do you think it will be easy managing two different game-communities at once?

Brennan Ieyoub: It'll be a lot of work, but if I wanted an easy job I'd bag groceries at a supermarket.

GamersUnity: Do you (for your own) think that Mythos and Hellgate:London will exist alongside each other or do you think they will be competitors?

Brennan Ieyoub: I believe that Hellgate and Mythos can coexist happily.

GamersUnity: Which game do you like more: Hellgate:London or Mythos?

Brennan Ieyoub: Hellgate caters more to my playing style, so if I had to pick just one it'd be Hellgate. Having said that, Mythos is an incredibly fun experience and a very polished product. I think the community is in for some serious gaming goodness this year.

GamersUnity: What will you do for the FSS-Community in the next weeks/months? Have you planned something already?

Brennan Ieyoub: I'd really like to produce some exclusive video content for the community, maybe start a video blog or something.
