Hydra Pistol

The Hydra Pistol is one of the niftier weapons in Hellgate: London. This pistol fires seven streams of poison, one from each glowing green node on the weapon. Each stream acts like a beam weapon, locking onto a target and feeding it poison until it dies. The beams all do a set amount of damage, and if you aim the gun so that more beams hit the same target, the damage is increased proportionately. Single monsters die quickly to this weapon, while it's much less effective against a crowd.

The name seems clearly inspired by the Lernaean Hydra, a seven-headed dragon Hercules had to defeat as one of his ten labors.

New Cabalists stated off with a Focus Drive and a Hydra Pistol in various game show builds during late 2006, such as the Tokyo Game Show. During a visit to Flagship Studios, Flux of The Unofficial HGL Site played a Cabalist to level nine in September of 2006, and never found a pistol weapon appreciably better than the Hydra Pistol his character had started off with.
