Marksman and Engineer.
Marksman and Engineer.
Like the Templar and Cabalist factions, every Hunter will choose their own character from one of the two Hunter classes. You must designate your character as a Marksman or Engineer upon creation, and while the two Hunter classes share some similarities, they are played in very different fashion.

Additional Hunter Information

Hunter Classes

There are two known Hunter classes:

Engineers are inventors and tinkerers. They can create new weapons and mods from raw materials, repair and improve equipment, and create numerous types of drones of many types. Engineers aren't simply mad scientists -- they have attack skills and know how to handle weapons as well.

Marksmen are gun experts. They possess numerous skills to boost their weapon range, damage, and firing type, and can handle the biggest guns in the game, rifles no other class can equip.

Third Hunter Class

While Hellgate: London will ship with two classes per faction, it's expected that Flagship will add another class to all of the factions in an expansion or some other post-release content update. Hunters were originally announced with three skill trees; Marksmanship, Engineering, and Reconnaissance. Once the class concept came in some of the recon skills went to the Marksman and some to the Engineer, but others are no longer in the game. It's believed the third Hunter class will be some kind of Recon expert, with skills involving stealthy movement, traps, and other deceitful and tricky techniques.

Early Hunter Skill Arrangement

Hunters initially had 3 skill trees, but this changed during development with the addition of the class concept.

Recon
Bomb planting skills, (similar to traps from D2), and various stealth skills.
Engineering
High tech weirdness; turn unused weapons into turets, or "item pets."
Marksman
Bowazon-like skills such as multishot and richochet.
