Hive blade

The hive blade was seen being used by monsters in various screenshots all through 2005 and 2006. Not until April 2007 was it officially named, and shown being used by a human; a Templar Guardian. The details of the weapon are still unknown; it's obvious from the screenshots that it's a green sword with locusts tied to it. Various guns in HGL fire insects, but these are shot out in a distinct swarm that lasts only a short period of time. The Hive Blade doesn't appear to have any chambers for insect storage, so the bugs presumably circle around it indefinitely.

The bug guns are all damage over time, too. The bugs are shot out and then swarm whatever monsters are in range. Each bug deals tiny damage, but with hundreds of them it adds up. The Hive Blade probably does not work that way, and it's assumed the bugs do damage over time, but that the sword itself does the main damage, hitting for poison (green?) or physical damage, and perhaps marking the target as an object for the trailing insects to attack?
