If you're new to wikis, they can seem a little overwhelming at first. So many pages? Why does it keep telling me to edit it? Fear not, wikis are very easy to read and use, and you can enjoy them without ever contributing a word -- though we wish you would, since you certainly know more about something than our current entry tells.
If you want to know everything about browsing wikis, check the extremely detailed guide from wikipedia. If you want to learn more about editing, wikipedia has that covered too, along with most anything else you could think to ask about.
Fear not; you'll soon be an old hand at this. Wikipedias are simply user-generated encyclopedias, with pages regularly created and revised by the site admins and the community. Use the search box to find pages on subjects you're curious about, or browse from the root via the subjects and categories. It's often easiest to zero in on a specific page, and then backtrack towards the root via the category link (found at the bottom of every page).
Anyone is welcome to edit the pages on this HGL wiki, providing you adhere to The Five Pillars of wikipedia content. Briefly restated: wikipedia entries should stick to discrete, focused points and be written in objective, honest fashion. Be cool, be friendly, and respect your fellow posters. HGL wiki entries are not opinion pieces or editorials. (We host user blogs and forums for all your opinion-related needs.) HGL wiki pages are free content that can be edited by anyone (with the exception of a very few admin-locked pages), and while you're free to edit the content contributed by others, you must realize they feel the same about your work.
