How to create/edit articles
(Basic/Fast tutorial)
- If you want create new article, look at another articles for inspiration.
- Use categories! Each article Must be at least in one category.
- How to add category? Type on bottom of article something like this: [[Category:Quests]]
- If you dont know where your article become, put it in Category:Categorization requests and someone else will do it.
- If you put article in 2 or more categories, dont do it when one is another subcategory. For example, dont put articles to Category:Melee weapons and Category:Weapons
- Organize your articles by using titles.
- Don't use single equaled titles (=Your title=), its top level title reserved for article name!
- For highest title level use ==Level 1 title in article==
- For lover level titles use more "=" (===Level 2 title in article===, ====Level 3 title in article====)
- Use button Show preview before you save changes.
- Enter short summary
- More info in Help:Contents

Current HellgateWiki Focus
If you know of any task that needs be done, edit here and add it. Don't remove anything unless you are Leord!
Areas
Areas include Towns, and we need to sort all this out.
We need to:
- Flesh out and update Areas.
- Sort all articles in categories.
- Add "Act" categories to them, for cross referencing.
- Make sure all categories are correctly sorted.
- Create a good Boilerplate for Areas and Towns. Treated similarly, but Towns needs to be more filled out.
Affixes or Prefixes - Modifiers
The "affixes", "prefixes", "Special Attributes", "Inherited Attributes", invisible attributes etc is still a mystery.
We need to:
- Get specification on all the affixes.
- Get specifications on what affices goes with what armors/weapons.
- How the Inherited Attributes are chosen, and why they exist.
- Do they take up some sort of "special attributes" slots, or can you have it all?
- If you can have it all, what is the maximum number of inherited attributes?
- What are the invisible attributes? Are they just Inherited ones, with a bug not displaying inherited?
Items
Check out new categorisation Talk:Items!
Armor
Same as with Weapons below, we need to make a structure, and standards.
We need to:
- Update the Armor page with updated info.
- Create categorization for the armor with proper names.
- Figure out how those damn Affixes really work, inherited attributes and special attributes really work (give your thoughts).
- Creating a Boilerplate:Armor as a standard on how to create armor articles.
- Making an info box on the right hand side.
Weapons
Weapons in the entire HellgateWiki needs updating. We might also change the categorization and navboxes to comply to a single standard. Please head over to the Talk:Weapons page for the discussion on Weapons.
We need to:
- Update the Weapons general info page.
- Update all the old weapon names to new ones Category:Weapons
- Creating a "Boilerplate:Weapons", as a standard on how to create weapon articles.
- Creating an "Info box" template to have on the right hand side of the weapon page.
- Setting standards on what headlines and what info shall be available per weapon.
- DO NOT add prefixes to the weapons you add, we'll need to figure out how to add those smoothly into the HellgateWiki.
- Leave room for user comments, to explain usability etc.
- Update the categorization, so that it is easy to find what we are looking for. Possibly have the categorization links in the Template:Weapon navbox instead of weapon links, or adding an additional navbox for subtypes of weapons.
- Creating a "Boilerplate:Weapons", as a standard on how to create weapon articles.
- Decide whether or not to use the Equipment Statistics Reference.
NPCs
NPCs are currently not handled.
We need to:
- Create articles for all npcs.
- Add minimal info, like location, faction, quests + a pic if possible
- Make sure that they are related to good categories. (Talk:NPCs)
- Decide what categories to use for NPCs.
- Improve/complete the bolierplate for NPCs.
Quests
We need to start adding Quest info in the HellgateWiki. It also needs to be correctly categorized so that it is easy to find.
We need to:
- Update the Quests article with relevant information.
- Just add the quests themselves to the HellgateWiki.
- Updating the Boilerplate:Quests to be easier to understand, and helpful to any new HGW-mebers.
- Adding quests to categories Category:Quests and Category:Optional Quests OR Category:Story Quests and Category:Act I / Category:Act II / Category:Act III etc. (The latter is up for debate, what do you think? The act categories still don't exist, but I've been using them to label quests, NPCs, and towns, where applicable.)
- Adding an info box on the right hand side as a Template instead of just a piece of code per quest page.
- Leaving room for the dialogue, but not requiring it upon creation. It is just extra good stuff that isn't really a necessity.
Skills
The skills still need some sorting.
'We need to:
- Get data on how damage increases per clvl as well as per [[clvl].
- Depending on if it is simple or complex (linear or not), we need to be able to explain this to new visitors or players of HGL.
- Adding skill pages for each skill, like this example by GoodWill.
- Adding a big reference table with all skills of a class. Either by using templates on the other pages, or by having a separate one. If possible to combine, that would be best ofc.
- Talk about it here.
