Flagship Studios was founded in 2003. The original crew included the "big four" who had just resigned from Blizzard North, Bill Roper, Max Schaefer, Erich Schaefer, David Brevik, and five others who joined them in time to co-found Flagship Studios Peter Hu, Kenneth Williams, Phil Shenk, Tyler Thompson, and David Glenn. The Schaefer brothers and David Brevik were the founders and heads of Blizzard North (which has since been shut down), the studio responsible for the Diablo titles. Hellgate: London is their premiere title, and the spiritual successor to the Diablo games.

Flagship Seattle, announced in December 2006, is a small design team led by Fate designer Travis Baldree. Flagship Seattle is producing Mythos, a Diablo-style RPG which can be played for free over Flagship's Ping0 online service.
